Thanks Michael, I'm well aware of pinouts having spent many years dealing with marine engines and harnesses, I have been concentrating on the circuits that are related to the two fault codes that were logged, when the faults have been active I have had power to the fuel pump, starter and EMS relays but there must be an ECM concern that will not allow the circuits to be active, and then it fixes itself and then randomly faults again. I intend to replace the whole harness.

Yes the other day I rode to a pub to meet up with some of the fellas, bike ran fine, came out, went to start, no neutral light, no fuel pump, no crank and engine fault light staying on. I cranked it over using the solenoid button that a few of us fitted a while back, cranked but no fire. Waited a while, key off and on a few times and she came good, rode home with the engine light still on, hooked up the dealer tool and got P1690, CAM communication fault, instruments to ecm. Checked the ecm contacts and instrument plug, all good, all I could find is a small amount of white corrosion powder on the pins for the RH switch cluster plug under the tank so I'm hoping it was just an electrical glitch as I'm heading out for a weeks ride next Thursday. Fingers crossed.

Lee, this is EXACTLY the same issue I had and the same code #. I'm sure you checked already but mine was the instrument cluster plug ( light corrosion ) . Hope you easily find the culprit.

Kevin it was the first thing I checked at the servo when it wouldn't crank over. And I've probably rechecked it twice since.

My mates have decided to ride on, at my insistence , and of course I went down to the shed this morning and she fired up no issues, but that's what happens until you get out on the road and commit and then wham!!!

Yes, same thing. after each no starts ( 2 ) I pushed it into the building and the next morning it starts it tends to get on your nerves.

I don't doubt your abilities for a second.
The Tiger problem was a bit beyond the norm. Factory connector was inadequate, problem wasn't lack of maintenance or damage. First time it failed, we sourced factory pins and replaced them all - solder and shrink-wrap - along with the melted plastic housing. Lasted a few months, then failed again. We then wire-wrapped and soldered wires together eliminating plug/socket altogether. That solved it.

Sorry if my response sounded off, didn't intend that and my abilities are always questionable

Yes it does mate, I hate getting let down by machinery. When I was in business if my vehicle let me down more than once it was gone, couldn't afford to be stranded, now it's not so important but still a PIA.

Code P1690 from another triumph twin site.
They also expierinced the lag and duration of the fuel pump. It could be a speedo not communicating. A blue wire near the headstock in a bundle is for the ECU. After they put the 1700 tune in in mine it popped the same code. I cleared and it has never been back. Your mind must be swirling around,
WTF is it. Seems like you have the same fuel pump problem. This in came off a different site, so it's not from a bird, but from twin.
Good luck
